    美國準總統川普在證實與蔡總統通電話後，一連在社群網站推特和臉書連發了兩則動態，用詼諧方式回應外界批評。學者分析，川普的推特風格，可以讓他在面對政治壓力需要妥協時，以推特抒發心裡真實想法，這能為他增添真性情的「素人style」，形塑魅力，但在國際政治上，卻增加了衝突的風險。

    川普團隊在證實與蔡通話後，川普先在推特感謝蔡總統的恭賀致電，還以大寫「CALL ME」凸顯是蔡打來；隔一小時又用反諷口吻稱，「美國賣給台灣幾十億美元武器，真有意思，我卻不能接一通道賀電話」，回應外界的質疑。
